HooDoo Series is a photo blog love-project about people who do inspiring things.

The series is photo and interview based. It seeks to tell the stories of the inspiring souls interviewed in it, but also to inspire the reader. HooDoo Series would like to bring people together and create connections.

Everyone has a story to tell.

Hopefully, their stories and art-forms are able to create connections. Wether between people or to help get over feeling stuck and uninspired.

HooDoo Series would like to bring people together and create connections. These interviews are meant to inspire. Whether it inspires the learning of a new skill, trying a new artistic medium, connections between people,

Hopefully, their stories and art-forms are able to make a connection with the reader. Making can be a lonely activity, hopefully HooDoo Series can create some connection and community.

I'm Amy Glass, a photographer and the creator of this blog. The name for this blog came up after a road trip through the Southwest. After seeing my first hoodoos. As you could guess, I'm pretty fond of them.

Definition of 'HooDoo':

  • HooDoos, in North America, are natural vertical rock formations, formed by years of weathering.
  • HooDoo is also used as a synonym of voodoo.

Based on those definitions:

  • People are like hoodoos; formed by environments and their own "weathering processes."
  • People have hoodoo. Usually viewed as black magic, for this blog's purposes it will be used in the sense of "dark and mysterious source of personal magic"? And further, if we can call everyone's special something their "hoodoo", then we can cop a line from Blazing Saddles and yell, "Now go do that hoodoo that you do so well!" So let's all get HooDoo'ed by the stories told here.
  • Let's say that everyone has that hoodoo inside of them. 'Weathered' or shaped by their environment and as your personal talent or magic.

I'm interested in making connections and creating a catalogue of images of creators in the current era.
